BA Tracker Helps Covered Entities and Business Associates with HIPAA HITECH Compliance

BA Tracker helps covered entities(CE) and business associates(BA) with HIPAA HITECH compliance.

We discovered the need for BA Tracker from two different sources. Rebecca Herold, CISSP, CIPP/US, CIPP/IT, CISM, CISA, FLMI, our privacy and security partner reported that many of her CE clients were having trouble keeping track of their BAs. At the same time we had a steady stream of BAs coming to us to get HIPAA HITECH compliant because one or more of their CEs was requiring them to provide proof of HIPAA HITECH compliance as a condition of doing business with them.

BA Tracker provides a cost effective and efficient method of satisfying both needs. The CE gets a dashboard view of all of their BAs sorted by their risk categories. The BA gets a method of getting compliant, staying compliant, and proving compliance to all of their CEs with our Compliance Meter (tm).

It works like this: The CE delivers a list of their BAs to Compliance Helper (CH). This list is up-loaded into BA Tracker, a SaaS tool that allows access by all authorized CE users. CH or the CE can then send out surveys asking for more information about how they access, store and maintain PHI and what efforts they make to protect the PHI. From these surveys the BAs are assigned to risk categories. High risk BAs are offered cost effective and efficient methods of remediating these risks. They then can provide proof of compliance to all of their CEs.

The cost to the CE is $1 per BA per month. There is no cost to the BA unless they require remediation services from CH. Remediation services for very small BAs begin at $125 to get compliant and $35 per month to stay compliant and prove compliance with our Compliance Meter(tm).
